My Garden

I decided to plant a deck garden ONLY this year and I have a sweet little section in the sunniest spots on the deck filled with various pots of a variety of veggies and herbs.

This photo is right after the little green leaves started pushing through the soil.

I became inspired to paint flat river rocks with the names of my plants.  Painting words and pictures was a bit harder than I first anticipated but I got better with each one.

Mom and I were planting seeds and we came across some random unknown ones that we planted in this rectangular planter just to see what actually grew.  I forgot that we had already planted seeds in this pot and I filled the “empty” pot with more Dianthus.  Look what grew alongside the Dianthus!   Snap peas!

Whether or not I grow much to actually use in cooking, preserving, etc,  it makes me happy just to see little things growing!  Such simple beauty.

Super idea — I love the painted rocks too. You can use them year after year — and what a special touch!

I love the painted rocks as name labels. Great idea.
